3 Outs in one inning.
A strike is if it hits the rectangle strike zone, the batter swings and misses, or a foul ball.
A ball is any other pitch that misses the zone with the exception that a hit batter just counts as a ball as well.
A Home Run is anything that goes over the outfield fence.
No stealing or leading off bases.
No balks for the pitcher
Fielding Rules:
Home Plate Outs:
To get a runner at home plate, a fielder must throw and hit the backstop behind home plate.
If the throw hits the backstop before the runner steps on hom, the runner is out. If the throw misses the backstop or does not reach home plate before the runner, the runner is safe.
If there is no force at home, the deadman’s line acts as the threshold of no returning to third for the runner.Once the wiffle ball hits the backstop it is a dead ball runners cannot advance.
First Base Outs: To get a force out at first base, a field may either throw to a first baseman, step on first, or throw to the practice net behind first base before the runner touches first. If there is an overthrow, it is a dead ball.
Overthrows: If the ball is overthrown by a fielder to first base or third and goes out of play, the batter is rewarded one base.
Thrown out: Throwing the ball at runners is allowed and if they are hit while not on a base they are out. If the throw hits the runner while off base, they are out.
Game Efficiency Rules:
3 inning games.
6 run limit per inning. No run limit in the 3rd inning.
40 minute time limit. No new innings will start after 35 minutes.
Sportsmanship Rules:
Respect for Opponents: All players are expected to treat their opponents with respect. A little chirping between friends is ok, but you all know the difference. A player may be ejected and asked to go home if they are swearing, bullying, or not being a good sport at the tournament director’s discretion.
Call Challenge Penalty: No challenges or arguments are allowed in this game. Again, a little chirping is ok, but legit emotional arguments will result in a one out penalty. Any arguments by offense will add an out to the current inning. Any arguments started by defense will subtract an out from the current inning.
